So, I was supposed to race at the Hagan-Stone Park Duathlon today. However, that didn’t exactly happen. In fact, the race itself didn’t even happen as a duathlon. It became the Hagan-Stone Park 10k featuring mud and ice. Because of this, the Duke Tri Club decided not to take the early morning 1+ hr drive with a cargo van in possible icy conditions.
But before that, things still hadn’t been going my way. I began to feel sick on Thursday with a pretty sore throat and some congestion. Yesterday I had pretty bad chest congestion and just felt pretty crappy, but I still planned on racing. I went to be last night at 8:30 in preparation for waking up at 5 am for the race. When I woke up to go to the bathroom at 1, I learned that we weren’t going to the race any more so I turned off my alarms. Next thing I knew I woke up at 9:30. 13 hours of sleep. I’ve been doing school work most of the day today (4 midterms this week) but took a two hour nap in the afternoon. So, in a span of 18 hours, I spent 15 of them sleeping.
Some good news: Tenting is over so I will indeed have more free time to write for the blog after this week of 4 midterms. I should also get two product reviews out by a week from today if all goes as planned! My Duke racing uniform finally came in so you’ll be seeing pictures of it soon. And Duke beat UNC.
Hope everyone is doing well! You’ll be hearing more from me soon!
